Prince of Persia Trailer

The world owes Valve and Jonathon Coulter a debt. Ever since the runaway success of Portal and its excellent closing music "Still Alive", it's like the game industry woke up and realised that a killer theme song is worth a year of development.

Here we have the Tokyo Game Show trailer for the new Prince of Persia, and by golly it's a thing to see. There is no possible way that playing this game can be more enjoyable than watching the trailers for it. A quick search has failed to turn up the artist / track info for the music but if anyone knows it drop me a comment and I'll update.

Also - and I've had some experience with the previous games - this still feels less like Prince of Persia than it does a free-running version of Ico. I'm intrigued. Intensely intrigued.

UPDATE: The artist is Sia, the track is "Breathe Me", and you can hear it in full on YouTube (link). Thanks Chris!

The artist is Sia, one of my wife's favourites, and the track is called "Breathe Me". (Sia, incidentally, is one of the members of the also-excellent Zero-7).

And yes, this really does look like Price of Ico... which isn't necessarily a bad thing! ;)

Best wishes!

Thanks. Will update with that info.

Nice job finding out the song title, Chris. Thanks for sharing the trailer, Greg. To be honest, I haven't played any of the 3D Prince of Persia games although I was interested in them because they were said to be influenced by ICO. Considering this one has the most obvious influence it seems, my interest has certainly peaked and I'll be keeping a close eye on the game.

By the way, have either of you heard of 6 Hour Power before? You might have seen the commercial for it on G$ before. It's an energy shot that provides long-lasting energy without the dreaded crash. It comes in 5 different flavors and helps enhance concentration too. It really does make for a great pick me up, especially when gaming. Check it out, along with the commercial, at www.6hrpower.com

By the way, I hope you don't mind me commenting on your blog, Greg. I work with 6HP so if you have any questions about our drink just let me know. I'd love to hear your thoughts of the drink!

Man, ad commenting has reached a new level. Relevant, knowledgeable commentary mixed with an ad for a drink I'll never, ever try. I wish Blogger had better comment-editing facility, but it doesn't, so I guess I'll let your article-vertment stand, Franklin.

It would be more impressive if it hadn't already been used (brilliantly) for the Six Feet Under finale. Although it does look like they're trying to couple it with the return of Farah, which has some potential. That relationship was key to Sands; also, she was one of the few in-game companions who didn't, y'know, suck.

Also: 6HP, mmm, it's-a-tasty.

As I understand it, that's not Farah. This is a new Prince, and a new companion. There's no continuity between this title and the last three.

Actually it's "Sæglópur" by Sigur Rós. Sia is similar, but it's not the same song. Not nearly as haunting.

Sæglópur" by Sigur Rós. is the correct artist/song for the commercial of Prince of Persia as seen on tv.

Your region may have a different version of the trailer, possibly due to licensing issues. The song in the clip in this post is definitely Sia.
